About

The Texas Adventure Company is focused on dual sport adventure riding.  Based in Austin, TX, my partners and I organize and promote yearly dual sport adventure rides and rallies in and around Texas.  My primary purpose is to contribute to the dual sport community and to promote and share the passion and fun of dual sport adventure riding.

My name is Richard Gibbens, of Austin, TX, and I am the organizer, promoter, & head bottle washer of The Texas Adventure Co.  I’ve had a life-long love of motorcycling, starting with motocross as a kid and progressing to dual sport adventure riding in more recent years, a passion I try to share through the various events I organize each year. After several years of diligently exploring the Texas Hill Country and Big Bend, I decided to put my knowledge of the Texas back roads to good use by organizing the first Texas Adventure Ride, held the last weekend in April 2007.  The response by the dual sport adventure riding community was so tremendous I figured it made sense to not only repeat that event but to organize other rides and events, eventually leading to the creation of The Texas Adventure Company.

In addition to seeking adventure in Texas, I also strive to take advantage of the tremendous dual sport adventure riding available around Texas.  Northwest Arkansas, with its abundant mountains and public lands is a very popular riding area for both all types of riders so an annual rally in this area was added to the calendar in 2009.

Mexico is high on my list of great places to ride due to its close proximity to Texas and abundant motorcycling opportunities.  Surprisingly, it seems that relatively few dual sport adventure riders have taken advantage of the wonderful riding in northwest Mexico.  To introduce riders to the joys of adventure riding in Mexico, I organized an annual rally in the Sierra Madre mountains south of Monterrey, Mexico.  The riding in this area is just unbelievable!  Unfortunately, due to the ongoing drug war I have put all Mexico rallies on hold until things settle down there.

I invite all adventure and dual sport riders to participate in any and all events I organize.  I work very hard to provide well-organized and fun adventure riding events suitable for riders of all different abilities, from the novice to the expert.  Whether you already have a love for dual sport adventure riding or just think it sounds like fun, come join in.  I truly believe you will have a great time and meet some wonderful people.

Finally, if you want to ride the fun and scenic Texas Hill Country but your schedule prevents you from attending one of my organized events, I would be pleased to lead a guided tour or plan a personalized route for you.  You can contact me at (512) 203-6143 or at rgibbens@austin.rr.com
