Texas Adventure

Dual Sport Adventure Motorcycling

Texas Adventure is focused on dual sport adventure riding.  Based in Austin, TX, I organize and promote different dual sport adventure rides and rallies each year.  Guide & tour services of the Texas Hill Country are also available.  My primary purpose is to contribute to the dual sport community and to promote and share the passion and fun of dual sport adventure riding.

My name is Richard Gibbens, of Austin, TX, and I am the organizer, promoter, & head bottle washer of Texas Adventure.  I've had a life-long love of motorcycling, starting with motocross as a kid and progressing to dual sport adventure riding in more recent years, a passion I try to share through various events I organize each year.

After several years of diligently exploring the Texas Hill Country and Big Bend, I decided to put my knowledge of the Texas back roads to good use by organizing the first Texas Adventure Ride, held the last weekend in April 2007.  The response by the adventure / dual sport riding community was so tremendous I figured it made sense to not only repeat that event but to organize other rides/events too.

In addition to seeking adventure in Texas, I also strive to take advantage of the tremendous dual sport adventure riding available around Texas.  Mexico is high on my list of great places to ride due to its close proximity to Texas and abundant motorcycling opportunities.  Surprisingly, it seems that relatively few dual sport adventure riders have taken advantage of the wonderful riding in Mexico.  To introduce riders to the joys of adventure riding in Mexico, I organize an annual rally in the Sierra Madre mountains south of Monterrey, Mexico.  West Central Arkansas and Southeast Oklahoma also offer some wonderful dual sport adventure riding territory.  I am currently working on adding an annual rally in this area to the Texas Adventure calendar.

I invite all adventure and dual sport riders to participate in any and all events I organize.  I work very hard to provide well-organized and fun adventure riding events suitable for riders of all different abilities, from the novice to the expert.  Whether you already have a love for dual sport adventure riding or just think it sounds like fun, come join in.  I truly believe you will have a great time and meet some wonderful people.

Finally, if you want to ride the fun and scenic Texas Hill Country but your schedule prevents you from attending one of my organized events, I would be pleased to lead a guided tour or plan a personalized route for you.  You can contact me at (512) 203-6143 or at rgibbens@austin.rr.com
